  • Simple Things

I miss the days we’d sneak out
Swimming at the Smoky Hill River just beyond the round-about

Times seemed simpler than they do now
We were best of friends and kept secrets somehow
We have both grown up and bought our own cars
Each got married and started dreaming towards the stars

Life seems so busy these days
    Seems like just being friends
    And simply having fun
A tough thing to get done these days

I crave the times that once were
Simple pleasures is what I desire for my cure
Maybe this can’t be the life of simplicity
We live in a world now of specificity

    I will do my part
    Sharing the simple things
    That makes life great
Share a hug and let that be our fate

Let me smile to someone new
In hopes that a friendship can renew

Let me be the one holding the umbrella
    For some drenched fellow

Let me be the one … count me as the one
That will do the simple things to make life simply fun ©2008

  • Love the write and love the tunes…

  • I love this. I feel the same way. Where have those days gone ? Why is time so hard to find? Oh how I long for the simpler times , where you dont have to rush all day just to get to the end of the day so you can start it all over again.

    Beautiful

  • @Adamission12 -  Thank you Adam. I have often found the simple things in life to be the best!

  • @Gypsywings2fly - Thank you for your comment … I agree with you that the simple things are sometimes hard to find in our busy world … one has to almost set time aside to smell the roses. Thanks again for your comment. Hugs

  • I never quite made friends like the ones I had when I was a kid.

  • @blogging_or_therapy - I think friends were easier make as children because first we were never under such time constraints as we are today. Thanks for your comment.

  • I find it harder to make friends as you get older, just because you get burned and scared of giving away your heart to people.

“What do they want from me?” is that lingering thought from inside our heads.

Love Norah Jones, my favorite singer :D

  • @XtremePsionic - Yes I agree all too often people use people and that is such a shame because they have the opportunity to make a long trusted friend. I also agree with you that Norah Jones has beautiful voice. Thanks for your comments.

  • @stevieheart - :) listening to her now (for the millionth time), The long way home – Feels like home
