  • Treason Upon Your Soul

A total of 11 church fires so far this year in Texas. I feel sorry for the congregations that have lost their home of worship and I also feel sorry for the individuals that are so filled with hate that they commit these tragedies. I wrote the following poem after the latest church fires on February 8th at Dover Baptist Church and Clear Spring Missionary Baptist Church. The churches are located about three miles apart near Tyler, Texas. http://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/02/11/texas.church.fires/

    Nighttime sky fiery glow
    Sparked by embers
    That you control
    Your brunt offering
    That you conferee
    Serves the serpent
    From the tree

    I the Lord
    Weep the tears
    Not for my home
    That you impair
    For the treason
    That you extol
    Upon your soul

    I the Lord
    Will quench the fires
    From tears that flow
Weeping upon your soul © 2010

  • Between shooting and fires, the world can become very ugly.  I love the lines, Serves the serpent/ from the tree.

  • @vexations - I agree … this world seems to get pretty ugly at times. Thanks for visiting and I like those lines as well. I appreciate your comments Bill.

  • brunt?

It is unfortunate; the ignorance and malice of people that lead to such things. What is perhaps more unfortunate and ghastly is that, when confronted, these same people would say “I thought it was funny, just a joke” or something even more irresponsible. I sincerely hope such folks get their just comeuppance.

A well and true heartfelt sentiment here. Well done.

  • i saw about the fires a few days ago too.  this afternoon i was watching the news and saw somewhere in california that 2 teens were shot in a church by men that had come in and paced threw the congregation then opened fire for what seemed like no reason.  i can’t imagine what would cause someone to do something like that.  i truely think there is a disease set upon the world that has done this to so many.

  • @Seranish_Shores - Yes people can be very mean at times. I appreciate your thoughts and visiting!

  • @NightlyDreams - I truly think that the world has a lot of people that have hate running through their souls. Very sad! Thanks for your reading and  your comments.

  • The anguish in your poem is so heart wrenching. I am sorry this is happening to your community. Do you know why or who is doing it? I pray that this madness stops.

  • @ZSA_MD - Actually this isn’t happening in my direct community as I live in Kansas and these are occurring in Texas, but just the same the hate that this person or people have is beyond any form of decency. They have elected to destroy a pillar what is good in a community. I personally do not know any of the people that are effected … but just same, these are good people trying to do what is right. I hope the authorities can find the perpetrator(s) of this crime soon so that no other communities will have deal with this kind of devastation. I have been praying for these communities.
